An Objective Approach to Vehicle Internal Noise Assessments
Published November 16, 1993 by Institution of Mechanical Engineers in United Kingdom
Currently, many studies of noise inside road transport vehicles are based on subjective assessments supported by relatively simple measurements. More sophisticated measurement techniques are becoming available to expedite NVH troubleshooting; and computer programs are being developed to predict noise inside vehicles without building expensive prototypes. This paper discusses the subjective reactions to engine noise quality as heard inside a light duty truck; and proposes some tentative targets for noise quality measurements as the basis for an objective approach to vehicle noise refinement.
