Prediction of Insertion Loss of An Intake and Exhaust System

Experimental and calculational technique has been developed to analyze the acoustic transfer matrix characterized as the four-pole parameters of the production intake and exhaust system. The four-pole parameters were extracted from the four transfer functions when the open end of the intake and exhaust system was closed. By using this technique, the four-pole matrix of a whole system was superimposed from a combination of that of the sub-systems analyzed before. This essentially enabled to predict the insertion loss of the whole system.
