Abstract
A new approach to systems dynamic analysis is presented utilising a simulation package modified for the CAD of hydraulic circuits. The graphics capability of the latest PC's is utilised to give a realistic representation of the actual hydraulic circuit diagram using appropriate component icons. This is then used to simulate the behaviour of an industrial forging press circuit with both position feedback of the control valve and the main cylinder. The CAD package is used to compare the simulation and experimental results and to determine the effect of a flow bypass approach on the dynamic behaviour.
