Abstract
By applying the simultaneous engineering The First Automobile Works (FAS) has succefully developed for CA6-102 engine the tappet having unique structure and good performance. This tappet with three ribs in the middle part of its body instead of the conventional hollow-core structure, eliminates the corezaking process. This structure is more adaptable to mass production by multiplemold with furan bonded sand molds. Because the tappet not only is made of chill iron to contain several kinds of alloying element but also quenched-tempered and phosphorized, it gives satisfactory operational performance, and real-ches a service life about 200000 km when matching with induction-hardened camshaft made of 45 carbon steel.
