Abstract
Newly developed technology utilizing individual long glass fibers provides improved properties for automotive parts. This unique technology improves the quality of compression molded parts at four segments of the parts life:
- 1Quality in Design - With glass fibers in all areas, there are no restrictions in designing or filling ribs, bosses, thin fixing elements, or complex shapes.
- 2Quality in Performance - With a homogeneous material that provides consistency of glass in the part, the performance can be predicted through Finite Element Analysis, even for deep ribbing and important thickness variations.
- 3Quality in Part to Part Consistency - Superior part to part consistency is achievable when using a very consistent material which allows for constant molding parameters.
- 4Quality in Recycling - Using a homogeneous material allows for recycling of trimmed areas or scrapped parts.
