Abstract
The application of laser cladding process for engine valve-face coating is discussed. It was found that the high quality and cost saving engine valves could be obtained by thinning the coating layer and controlling the ranges of base metal dillution from 5 to 15%.
And, after some efficiency tests, it became clear that the laser cladded engine valves had the same anti-wear property as the oxy-acetylen gas welded engine valves.
