Abstract
Since the oil crises of the mid seventies, designers have developed an awareness as well as a demand for lighter, more fuel efficient power plants. The result has been fewer number of cylinders and lighter frames and chassis requiring a different approach to traditional engine mounts. This paper describes a new generation of fluid-filled or hydraulic engine mounts, it is intended as a general overview of the technology and a description of product applications. Technical papers providing a more detailed discussion of fluid mount performance are referenced.
