Abstract
This study was developed to determine the economic value of Class 8 heavy duty highway truck manufacturer's published new vehicle warranty to the truck user. The study provides economic value of the warranty as well as information on the types of failures incurred in the first 12 months and first 100,000 miles of the sampling of new vehicles placed in service in 1984. The vehicle mix consisted of conventional and sleeper type cabs operated at gross combination weights of 76,000-80,000 lbs.
