Abstract
The relative importance of different types of road accidents as a source of injury to children is considered. A review is made of the available data on child occupant injuries and child pedestrian injuries. Patterns of injury are considered and the relative importance of leg injuries noted. The effects of age on injury patterns are examined. The distribution of leg fractures sustained by child pedestrians is described and the influence of pedestrian age and vehicle shape on such injuries discussed.
