Abstract
This paper summarizes tests conducted by the Joint Committee of WRTB/PCSA. The emphasis is placed on identifying the variables attributable to causing blocks to spin on cranes with multiple-part reeving. Data from both series of tests are incorporated to develop the theories used to predict the fall lengths at which block spinning will occur. The conclusions are then presented in a graphical form as a guideline to be used in actual field situations.
