Abstract
Managing quality in an airline is rooted in tradition and in Federal regulation. Dr. W. Edwards Deming has developed a 14-point system to maximize productivity by stressing quality and aggressive management practices. While this system was developed to support the manufacturing industry, it can be put to work in an airline. Successful competition in the air carrier industry necessitates movement from tradition towards the Deming System.
