Abstract
Diesel propulsion of commercial vessels burning “heavy fuel” on the Great Lakes, for one operator, has come about by an evolution beginning in 1951 and culminating in 1, 000′ LOA vessels burning intermediate fuels, pre-blended using residual and distillate mixtures, in large medium speed, heavy duty diesel engines.
