Abstract
Some of the ways in which energy conservation measures are affecting the safety of road transportation are reviewed in this paper. The areas considered include traffic legislation and control, type of vehicle, size of car and type of fuel. It is concluded that many of the simple measures that have been adopted to conserve fuel have had a detrimental effect on safety.
