Abstract
With the increasing demand for small light weight chain saws for the casual user market, the need for a low cost design to meet this requirement became apparent.
By employing several new design concepts and manufacturing methods, a 35% reduction in manufacturing cost compared with a previous model of approximately the same output was achieved.
