Abstract
Aircraft gas turbines are used to drive free trubine-centrifugal compressor combinations in stationary installations. This combination is used for gas compression and power generation in the natural gas transmission, processing, and utility industry.
This article discusses the use of aircraft gas turbines to drive gas compressors. The control design criteria and concepts for the start-up sequence based on the location and load are explained.
Safety controls for unattended remote installations are discussed.
