Abstract
A motor-pump combination is described that utilizes the rotor-stator surfaces as a water lubricated journal bearing. Data are given showing a 50% reduction in weight, 60% reduction in size, and a 65% reduction in temperature rise. The electric motor design is applicable to centrifugal, mixed flow, and axial flow pumps.
