Abstract
The last 20 years have shown a tremendous increase in the use of synthetic materials in the construction of low temperature bodies. This paper gives a brief comparison of the metals and the invading synthetics and outlines the design advantages of the use of synthetics. Included in this paper is also a simple theory which adapts itself to the determination of heat rise versus time in the media contained in an insulated body.
