Abstract
The powered axle concept is the utilization of standardized sections to form a family of sectionalized wheeled vehicles with power to every wheel. This type vehicle can partially solve the Army's mobility problem in that it is an amphibious, multipurpose, air transportable vehicle which is given to ease of maintenance and assembly. The front and rear sections are standard for all vehicles and the center section depends on the particular capability desired, such as bulldozer, crane, or launcher.
These vehicles will have a high degree of availability and deadline time will be held to a minimum due to standardized construction. Use of oversize tires and a bulldozer blade will supply added mobility, and will satisfy engineer equipment requirements.
