Abstract
Relative octane values of various additives and blending ingredients are often more important than assigning each an absolute value. This technique largely eliminates reference fuel ratings, and with the use of proficient statistical designs, yields very rapid and precise relative octane qualities.
This technique is applicable to numerous types of octane ratings whether determining conventional Research and Motor ratings or road ratings and other dynamometer qualities. Standard errors of ± 0.07 are expected of this technique.
