A Study on Combustion Characteristics of Diesel Engine Under Transient Operation

In further improvement of emissions characteristics of diesel combustion, spike emission of NOx and soot under transient operation should be reduced. Therefore, it is required to clarify its mechanism. In this study, the mechanism of spike emission is investigated by experiment and numerical simulation. Cylinder temperature and chamber wall temperature under transient operation are measured optically using optical engine. Comparison of mean gas temperature and wall surface temperature in a chamber at transient operation between measurement and prediction was conducted.
