Accurate Simulation of Exhaust/Intake Noise Under Consideration of TC, Catalyst, Particulate Filter

The accurate prediction of intake and exhaust orifice noise by simulation considering in parallel packaging requirements will save considerable time and cost.
Also for troubleshooting on existing intake/exhaust noise phenomena a simulation approach yields fast and reliable results.
In such a simulation all intake and exhaust line components like turbocharger, intercooler, catalyst and particulate filter have to be considered for their acoustic effect.
In an AVL-VIF research program a simulation approach for the complete intake/exhaust line has been developed, resulting in a software tool to predict very accurately the orifice noise of complex intake and exhaust systems up to frequencies of 1.2 kHz.
