Abstract
This paper proposes a method for the safety assessment of highly integrated and complex mechatronic systems. The method is based on a development process used by the aeronautical industry, and adapted to a broader mechatronic use. An application is presented for the project of an “Automated Storage & Retrieval System” (AS/RS), developed by a team of engineers at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA).
