Abstract
Improvement of the monitoring of high-volume production processes of cars is a great challenge. One has to bear in mind the fact that product dispersion has a direct impact on customer's quality perception and satisfaction, in addition to warranty costs.
On the basis of the existing expertise related to the subjective and objective assessment of the perceived quality of the cars, CRF has designed and developed an objective testing procedure. The aim was to evaluate the overall vibratory and acoustical quality of daily produced vehicles at the end of the production line at FIAT plants.
Such a system is aimed at monitoring the product dispersion quickly and reliably, ensuring consistent quality levels, together with the construction of a database including measurements over the production cycle of the tested vehicles. Furthermore the same procedure could be used to document the evolution of the vehicle quality level over its lifetime.
