A Development of the Gear Rattle Excitation Force Prediction Method for Engine Gear Train

Considering the engine idling noise, the gear rattle noise from the timing gear train plays a large role. Therefore, there is a great demand to decrease the gear rattle noise efficiently. The authors have developed a new simulation technique which is able to apply to a parameter study concerning the gear rattle noise. Some examinations which have been done to decrease the gear rattle noise by the use of the new technique are described.
