In order to clarify the effect of turbulence on aerodynamic noise generation, we attempted to develop a low-noise turbulence generator for wind tunnel experiment of automobiles. Since the noise level of large-scale turbulence of the generator is only 10 dB larger than that of the conventional wind tunnel, noise level of the rearview mirror can be estimated with the generator. The experimental results showed the tonal noise from the rearview mirror depends on the turbulence intensity of the uniform flow and that the consideration of effect of turbulence on aerodynamic noise generation is important for the development of low-noise automobiles.
