Brake judder reduction technology~Brake design technology including frictional materials formulation

In conventional systems, rotor-attack characteristics of frictional materials tend to increase according to the friction coefficient, and it has consequently been difficult to achieve effective braking and reduce brake judder (cold judder) at the same time. This paper introduces brake design technology applying these elemental technologies: (1) design for combining frictional materials to optimize the friction coefficient and rotor-attack characteristics according to friction interface control between pad and rotor (semi-corrective concept); and (2) caliper and rotor design to decrease partial rotor abrasion in both braking and no-braking modes.
