Abstract
This paper presents Ecosim, a general and flexible simulation tool directly applicable to the simulation of Environment Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS) and Thermal Control Systems (TCS), which was developed for the European Space Agency. It has a number of advantages over other systems, such as support for multi-disciplinary simulations of TCS and ECLSS, extensive libraries of re-usable components for model building that can be extended by the users, and a powerful simulation engine based on a mix of symbolic processing and numerical analysis. This paper gives an overview of Ecosim and explains the main language constructs for defining libraries of re-usable components, and then presents several industrial applications.
