Scope
This SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) establishes guidance for the specification of formulated lubricant properties which contribute to the lubricating function in bearings, gears, clutches, and seals of aviation propulsion and drive systems.
Rationale
Since issuance of AIR5433B, it was discovered that the thermal conductivity for the oils listed in Table 8 were in error. After review in the E-34C Lubricating Characteristics Subcommittee, these issues have been resolved in this revision.

This committee encompasses lubricants for gas turbine engines, as well as aircraft gear boxes and accessories. In addition, the work of the committee encompasses lubricants for privately owned jet or turbo propeller engines that operate on synthetic lubricants.
