Abstract
This paper describes the Enjay engine test which is used to evaluate the performance of lubricants in internal combustion engines. The test predicts the Caterpillar L-1 test performance of lubricants under either the MIL-L-2104A or MIL-L-2104A Supp. I test conditions. It is relatively simple and inexpensive and applies to all grades of motor oil and all levels of additive treat.
The test was developed in the Enjay Laboratories where, during the past two years, over 600 tests have been run. The data and correlations developed from these test results are presented in the paper.
