Abstract
Cylinder-head gaskets of multi-layer type recently become more and more important for use in automotive industry by replacing standard composite head gaskets. This replacement occurs due to increasing demands caused by the development of modern engines, whereby the cylinder head gasket is taking on ever more important tasks. As some important layers are made of stainless steel strip, the quality of the material has obviously to go along with the improvements achieved in cylinder-head gaskets technology. To offer best application properties, choice and design of the right material become more and more important, taking into account an optimization of the production flow. There exist several possibilities to improve properties and to optimize production flow.
