AMS6428M is the result of a Five-Year review and update of the specification. The revision revises the title to match the scope and product quality, addresses composition reporting (see 3.1.1), updates exceptions and marking (see Table 2 and 8.8), revises macrostructure requirements (see 3.3.1 and 8.9) updates hardenability (see 3.3.3), revises decarburization testing (see 3.3.4.5) addresses periodic testing in accordance with AMS2301 (see 4.2.1 and 4.4.5) includes ordering information for forgings (see 4.4.3 and 8.9) and provides ordering guidance (see 8.7).
