- This specification covers established manufacturing tolerances applicable to bars, rods, and wire of nickel, nickel alloy, and cobalt alloys ordered to inch-pound dimensions. These tolerances apply to all conditions, unless otherwise noted. The term "excl" is used to apply only to the higher figure of a specified range.

- AMS2261L revises Table 6 to add larger sizes and align the table title with AMS2241, deleted reference to Table 6 from 7.1.1 as out of round is covered in Table 6, changed “hot finished” to “hot worked” in Table 13 to more accurately represent the condition, and results from a Five-Year Review and update of this specification.
