This information report covers fuel fired pre-heaters which burn gasoline, diesel, or propane fuels. This type of heater must be used in remote areas where 110/220 V, 60 Hz electric power is not available, and is recommended anywhere an on-board self contained system is required. The guidelines in this report are applicable, but not limited to, fuel burning heater installations on the off-road self-propelled work machines described in SAE J1116.
Rationale
The standard covers technology, which is mature and not likely to change in the foreseeable future. There is no support within Con Ag to revise this document, but some users want to maintain it as stabilized for limited use.
The Common Tests Technical Steering Committee (CTTC) is responsible for the activities related to the design, development, and application of specific tests common to components and systems of off-road self-propelled work machines. CTTC is comprised of two subcommittees: CTTC1, Hydraulic Systems CTTC2, Electrical Components and Systems This technical steering committee reports directly to CONAG council. ConAg Council covers machines described in SAE J1116 which includes machines defined in ISO 6165, ISO 6814, and ISO 22242, and cranes defined in ISO 4301 with regards to activities supporting: • Creating consensus SAE standards, recommended practices, and information reports • Harmonizing relevant SAE documents with ISO documents • Assisting the US with the creation and maintenance of ISO standards through US TAGs o ISO/TC 127 --- Earth-moving machinery o ISO/TC 195 --- Building construction machinery and equipment o ISO/TC 23/SC 15 --- Machinery for forestry Participants in this committee include OEMs, suppliers, consulting firms, government, and others across the construction and forestry industries.
