Shanghai city is economically growing up rapidly. As a result, four-wheeled registered vehicles were 842 thousand in 2004. The market of vehicle maintenance is also growing up. There are about 5,000 vehicle maintenance factories in Shanghai. The market of used vehicles is also growing up. There are six used vehicles exchange markets in Shanghai. The total amount of exchanged used vehicles was about 150 thousand in 2003. Using limit is decided by vehicle type. In case of passenger vehicle, it is up to 15 years. Therefore, these disused vehicles are dismantled. There are four dismantling factories in Shanghai. We make a summary report of the status quo of maintenance and inspection of vehicles, the market and the performance of used vehicles, and dismantling factories.
