A technical committee shall be responsible for a field of endeavor, as defined by its scope. In cases where projects overlap areas of interest of another council’s committee, the originating committee shall submit the project(s) for review and approval to the other concerned committee and its council prior to issuance. A committee is established when a new major project area is to be undertaken and no existing committee is available. A committee is discharged when the assigned work is completed and there is no further need for its services. The councils retain responsibility for periodic review of technical reports developed by their disbanded committees
Executive Standards Committee

The preferred thicknesses in Table 1 provide an orderly metric (SI) series for designating the thickness of uncoated flat metal products of rectangular cross section. The thicknesses shown are also applicable to base metals which may be coated in later operations
Sheet and Strip Steel Committee
This specification covers established manufacturing tolerances applicable to aluminum alloy standard structural shapes ordered to inch/pound dimensions. Standard structural shapes are shapes in certain standard alloys, tempers, sizes, and sections such as angles, channels, Tees, Zees, I-Beams, and H-Beams commonly used for structural purposes. These tolerances apply to all conditions, unless otherwise noted. The term "excl" applies only to the higher figure of the specified range

EG-1A Balancing Committee
Traditional methods of photometry rely on the use of a goniometer to rotate the test item around two axes at right angles. This method is satisfactory for most situations but has certain disadvantages: a Point-by-point measurements with a goniometer may be slow. With more advanced requirements, particularly for headlamps, where the entire beam pattern is of concern, isocandela measurements are becoming increasingly needed. Such testing can be very time consuming. b For production quality assurance, the speed of a goniometer may not allow testing to keep pace with the production line if a large quantity of lamps must be sampled. c High Intensity Discharge (HID) lamps are becoming commonly used. Such lamps are orientation sensitive, changing in both lumen output and intensity distribution when tilted. This can introduce significant inaccuracies in test results when testing is performed using a goniometer. There is a need for alternative test techniques which can achieve very high speed

This SAE Standard applies to Construction, General Purpose Industrial, Agricultural, Forestry, and Specialized Mining categories of off-road, self-propelled work machines, as defined in SAE J1116. Powered industrial trucks and agricultural equipment, other than the basic agricultural tractor, are excluded from the scope of this document. The document defines positions for convenient placement of hand- and foot-operated controls derived from the overlapping reach capability of large and small operators. The large operator approximates the 95th percentile male, and small operator approximates the 5th percentile female of the U.S. population. This document defines zones in which controls used by a seated operator would ordinarily be placed, and is intended as a guide for the design of the operator compartment controls. Constraints peculiar to individual machine or user applications may require modification to these defined zones. The established zones are based upon singular reach
