This document defines a quantified means of specifying a digital fiber optic link loss budget: Between end users and system integrators Between system integrators and subsystem suppliers Between subsystem suppliers and component vendors The standard specifies methods and the margin required for categories of links
This document defines the steps and documentation required to perform a digital fiber optic link loss budget. This document does not specify how to design a digital fiber optic link. This document does not specify the parameters and data to use in a digital fiber optic link loss budget
This document defines performance standards which fiber optic cable splices must meet to be accepted for use in aerospace platforms and environments
This SAE Standard was developed to provide a method for indicating the direction of engine rotation and numbering of engine cylinders. The document is intended for use in designing new engines to eliminate the differences which presently exist in industry
This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) is intended for use by those involved in the design of aircraft, missile, or space systems, and their support equipment to define the various types of fastener torque
This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) describes a method of conducting an endurance test using contaminated air when the applicable specification requires non-recirculation of the contaminants. The objective of the test is to determine the resistance of the engine mounted components to wear or damage caused by the contaminated air. The method described herein calls for non-recirculation of the contaminants and is intended to provide a uniform distribution of the contaminant at the inlet to the Unit Under Test (UUT). The UUT may require the use of a hydraulic fluid for actuation of components within the test unit. Contamination of the test hydraulic fluid is not part of this recommended practice. If contaminated hydraulic fluid is required by the applicable test specification, refer to MAP749
This SAE Recommended Practice is intended as a guide toward standard practice and is subject to change to keep pace with experience and technical advances. This document establishes performance requirements for headlamps
This SAE Recommended Practice provides headlamp beam pattern test points for harmonized low and high beam headlamp beam patterns that incorporate elements of European, Asian, and U.S. photometric tables. These photometric tables are optional to those found in SAE J1383
This document applies to the requirements of a device used in the field and inspection stations to aim and check aim of mechanically aimable headlamp units. The purpose of this document is to provide a laboratory test procedure to determine whether the devices under test are capable of accurately positioning headlamp units from their aiming pads and maintaining their accuracy in service within the tolerances designated in this document
This SAE Recommended Practice applies to motor vehicle Forward Illumination Devices which incorporate limited adaptive beam pattern capabilities. This document is to be used in conjunction with other forward lighting standards and/or recommended practices which define the base beam procedures, requirements, and guidelines
This SAE Recommended Practice applies to motor vehicle Distributed Lighting Systems (DLS) which use light generated by remote sources. It provides test methods, requirements, and guidelines applicable to these systems. This document is intended to be a guide to standard practice and is subject to change dependent upon additional experience and technical advances. This document covers Headlamp, Fog lamp, Auxiliary lamp, plus Signal and Marking lamp functions
This SAE Recommended Practice applies to motor vehicle forward illumination systems and subsystems generated by discharge sources. It provides test methods, requirements, and guidelines applicable to the special characteristics of gaseous discharge lighting devices which supplement those required for forward illumination systems using incandescent light sources. The document is applicable to both discharge forward lighting systems, subsystems and components. This document is intended to be a guide to standard practice and is subject to change to reflect additional experience and technical advances
This SAE Recommended Practice is intended as a guide toward standard practice and is subject to change to keep pace with experience and technical advances. This document establishes performance requirements, material requirements, design requirements, and design guidelines for sealed beam headlamps
This SAE Aerospace Information Report (AIR) contains information on the thermal design requirements of airborne avionic systems used in military airborne applications. Methods are explored which are commonly used to provide thermal control of avionic systems. Both air and liquid cooled systems are discussed
This Aerospace Information Report (AIR) outlines the design considerations and criteria for the control of water carryover from the environmental control system (ECS) with respect to causes and indicated corrective or preventative action. In addition, condensation on structure will be reviewed with possible preventative action described
This specification covers metric aircraft quality spacers for use as positioners for tubes, flat washers for use as load spreaders, galling protection of adjacent surfaces and or material compatibility, and key or tab washers for use as locks for bolts, nuts, and screws
This specification covers the general requirements for removable crimp, solderless wrap, and solder type electrical contacts for use in connectors and other electric and electronic components (see 6.1) with stranded conductor wire. The contacts shall be capable of operating within the temperature range as specified (see 3.1
This specification covers three series of environment resisting, circular, miniature electrical connectors (plugs and receptacles) with removable crimp and/or nonremovable solder contacts, and accessories. The connectors are only recommended for replacement and are not specified for aircraft applications (refer to AS50881
The tubing described in this document is for use in electrical interconnect systems for the protection and routing of wire bundle installations
