Honda has developed diesel particulate filter (DPF) system. Optimization of the multi-fuel injection system, which is able to inject up to four times per cycle, and control of the temperature of the DPF via the use of a variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) and intake control by means of the throttle valve has resulted in reliable DPF regeneration performance. In addition, by improving the accuracy of estimation of accumulated PM mass and reducing fuel dilution of oil, the robustness of DPF system is advanced.
