This SAE Recommended Practice covers the design and application of a 120 VAC single phase engine based auxiliary power unit or GENSET. This document is intended to provide design direction for the single phase nominal 120 VAC as it interfaces within the truck 12 VDC battery and electrical architecture providing power to truck sleeper cab hotel loads so that they may operate with the main propulsion engine turned off.
Truck and Bus Electrical Systems Committee
This SAE Recommended Practice covers passive torque biasing axle and center differentials used in passenger car and light truck applications. Differentials are of the bevel gear, helical gear, and planetary types, although other configurations are possible.
Drivetrain Standards Committee
This material type has resistance to hot air, but generally has poor resistance to fuels and lubricants, but usage is not limited to such applications. Each application should be considered separately. This material type has a typical service temperature range of -85 to 500 °F (-65 to 260 °C). The operating temperature range of the material is a general temperature range, but the presence of particular fluids and design parameters may modify this range. Recommendations on the material selection are based on available technical data and are offered as suggestions only. Each user should make his own tests to determine the suitability for his own particular use.
A-6C2 Seals Committee
This specification provides dimensional standards for crimp type contact wire barrel design and is a replacement for MS3190. Some wire barrel designs may exist in AS39029 but are not considered approved for future use, therefore, will not appear in this specification. The crimp barrel sizes listed in this document have been standardized in AS39029 and AS22520 specifications, tools and contacts are available to support these listed sizes. These crimp barrel requirements shall be used for any contact, regardless of whether it is a standard or non-standard contact configuration. The specification lists details for three types of wire barrels: A, B, and C. Wire barrel type A is not recommended for new design. Table 4 lists each AS39029 detail sheet wire barrel type.
AE-8C1 Connectors Committee
This Aerospace Specification establishes the requirements for a threaded flexible coupling assembly, hereafter referred to as the assembly, which utilizes ferrules or machined tube end fittings to join tubing and components in aircraft fuel, vent, or other systems. This coupling assembly is designed for use from -54 to 93 °C and at 862 kPa peak working pressure. AS coupling components referenced herein have been qualified to AS1710. Ferrule referenced herein are inch ferrules adapted to metric tubing.
G-3, Aerospace Couplings, Fittings, Hose, Tubing Assemblies
This specification covers honeycomb core made of polyamide paper sheets and supplied in the form of blocks, slices, and ordered shapes, the cells of the core being in an overexpanded, rectangular configuration.
AMS P17 Polymer Matrix Composites Committee
This guide is intended to cover specifications applicable to MAP transducers. It is also applicable to transducers such as Barometric (Ambient) Absolute Pressure transducers, Manifold Vacuum transducers, and similar pressure transducers used in automotive systems. Although this guide is oriented towards active devices (those using internal signal conditioning), it can be applied to passive devices with minor modifications.
Electrical Systems
This SAE Recommended Practice defines the test conditions, procedures, and minimum design requirements for nominal 6, 12, and 24 V turn signal, hazard warning, warning lamp alternating, and combination flashers.
Circuit Protection and Switch Device Committee
This specification covers the material and process requirements for fabricating sandwich radomes having hot-melt, addition-reaction polyimide-resin-impregnated quartz cloth shells and polyimide-resin syntactic foam cores.
AMS P17 Polymer Matrix Composites Committee
This specification covers the material and process requirements for fabricating sandwich radomes having polyimide-resin-impregnated quartz cloth shells and polyimide-resin syntactic foam cores.
AMS P17 Polymer Matrix Composites Committee
This specification covers aramid fibers in the form of woven cloth.
AMS P17 Polymer Matrix Composites Committee
This specification covers a fuel and low-temperature resistant butadiene-acrylonitrile (NBR) rubber in the form of molded rings.
AMS CE Elastomers Committee
This specification covers a prepolymer in the form of an epoxy cresol novolac (ECN) resin.
AMS P17 Polymer Matrix Composites Committee
This specification covers a fluorosilicone rubber in the form of molded rings.
AMS CE Elastomers Committee
This SAE Recommended Practice is intended as a guide toward standard practice and is subject to change to keep pace with experience and technical advances. This document establishes performance requirements, design requirements and design guidelines for electronic devices.
Test Methods and Equipment Stds Committee
This test method provides a standardized procedure for evaluating the sealing capability of a hose connection or any of the individual components of the connection with a pressure, vibration, and temperature (PVT) test facility. This test method consists of a test procedure which includes vibration and coolant flow (#1 ) and a similar test procedure specified without vibration or coolant flow (#2). Any test parameters, other than those specified in this SAE Recommended Practice, are to be agreed to by the tester and the requestor.
Non-Hydraulic Hose Committee
This SAE Recommended Practice applies to flywheels and flywheel-starter ring gear assemblies used with internal combustion engines of the spark ignition and diesel type equipped with a governor or speed limiting device. Engine sizes are those capable of using SAE No. 6 through SAE No. 00 flywheel housings. This document applies to methods used to determine the rotational speed capability of flywheels for stresses imposed by centrifugal forces only.
SAE IC Powertrain Steering Committee
This SAE Recommended Practice defines flywheel housing flange configurations for applications requiring "O" ring sealing of the flange pilot bore. Table 1 and Figure 1 show dimensions that are different from those in SAE J617. All other dimensions and tolerances of SAE J617 apply.
SAE IC Powertrain Steering Committee
This SAE Recommended Practice applies to spring-loaded clutches such as are used with manual shift type transmissions.
SAE IC Powertrain Steering Committee
This SAE Recommended Practice is intended to apply to lamps, batteries, heaters, radios, and similar equipment for operation with mobile or automotive diesel engines. Twenty-four V systems have long been used for heavy-duty services because 24 V permit operating 12 V systems in series-parallel. Thirty-two V systems have been used for marine, railroad-car lighting, and other uses. Generators, storage batteries, starting motors, lighting, and auxiliary electrical equipment shall be for nominal system ratings of 12, 24, or 32 V as determined by the power requirements of the application. It is recommended that no intermediate voltages be considered. The combination of a 24 V starting motor and two 12 V batteries connected in series for cranking is considered practical where it can be adapted to the installation. The batteries are reconnected in parallel for charging from a 12 V generator/alternator and for operating lights and other auxiliary equipment, or charged separately and used
