Verification and Validation of the Operational Capabilities of a Tactical Engagement Simulation System for the Apache Longbow Attack Helicopter

The Tactical Engagement Simulation system for the Apache Longbow employs geometric pairing technology to emulate the non-line-of-sight weapons capabilities. A methodology was developed to evaluate the operational performance of the system for the Apache Longbow. Using an initial operational test as the basis for data collection, the methodology will afford the program manager with information to support verification and validation efforts during the operational testing phase, and will reduce cost and acquisition time over traditional techniques. The methodology and the resulting test plan can be employed in the analysis of similar simulation systems.
