Amprius is continuously enhancing its silicon anode technologies, which have resulted in lithium-ion batteries with energy density and specific energy performance surpassing current graphite cells by 50-80%, depending on the cell size and form factor. Amprius products have demonstrated that silicon anode-based batteries can achieve up to 1,300 Wh/L and 500 Wh/Kg while maintaining a cycle life suitable for aerospace, military, and other high-end applications. Additionally, the high-capacity electrodes with reduced thickness allow cells to operate at high rates of charge and discharge without overheating, reaching 4000 W/kg power density in cells with over 400 Wh/kg specific energy density. Amprius began large-scale manufacturing and commercialization of its batteries, delivering over 100,000 units to customers in 2024. Furthermore, the range of applications, markets, and cell form factors developed has expanded significantly, with cell capacities ranging from 1Ah to 100Ah, available in both pouch and cylindrical formats. The current products, their performance, and applications, as well as the specific anode features that enable this performance, will be presented.
