S-92 Fly By Wire Progress Report

The first 50 flight hours of fly by wire (FBW) flight testing on two S‐92 derivative aircraft from a handling qualities perspective is described. The envelope expansion activities have progressed to the point where the system can be evaluated against the quantitative metrics contained in ADS‐33E for the primary rate command / attitude hold mode. Details pertaining to the validation of stability robustness and inverse plant modeling are provided. The system has demonstrated Level 1 compliance to the control bandwidth and attitude quickness requirements of ADS‐33E.
