Authors Abstract
Content
THIS paper discusses the application of resilient mountings to passenger-car powerplants.
Resilient mountings have a threefold purpose:
  1. 1.
They isolate engine vibration and torque impulses from the rest of the vehicle.
  2. 2.
They insulate the engine mass from incoming excitations due to road irregularities.
  3. 3.
Nos. 1 and 2 must be accomplished without allowing the powerplant mass to get into synchronous vibration with any component of the vehicle.
