Preliminary Study of the H-Force Rotor

The potential of using tip vanes at the ends of helicopter rotor blades to obtain a controllable H-force is discussed. The propulsive thrust achieveable with specific configurations presented, as well as the impact of this auxiliary thrust on angles of attack of the rotor, and on the power required. The possible impact of the vanes on hover induced and profile power is considered.
