The use of a local frame motion formalism for finite element simulation of rotor dynamics leads to low order nonlinearity of the equations of motion. In order to exploit this reduced non-linearity, a domain decomposition strategy is implemented. The independence of the subdomains enables naturally parallel computations. The combination of these three key elements leads to significant savings in computational time, without compromising the accuracy.
