Reliable operation of the Flight Control System has been demonstrated during the Comanche Flight Test Program. This success is due to a system development and testing philosophy that places system safety as a foremost objective. The system architecture evolved from earlier fly-by-wire systems and lessons learned from these programs have been successfully incorporated. A software development process that stresses reuse of exhaustively tested low level routines ensures repeatable and deterministic program execution. Redundancy Management algorithms that maximize the use of in-line monitoring and by nature suppress failure transients has helped build confidence by the pilot community.
