An Interview with Major General Patrick H. Brady, Dust Off Innovator and Medal of Honor Recipient

The United States Army's famed Dust Off units with their flying helicopter ambulances were directly responsible for saving close to one million lives in Viet Nam. The name Dust Off, selected because their choppers could literally disappear into dust clouds, signified more than their radio call sign—the cry of Dust off soon became the recognized request for medical help. Yet responding would come with a harsh price for the heroic Dust Off crews and pilots, who faced more danger and suffered the highest casualty rate of any in the war.
