Apache Aviation Turbine Engine Diagnostic System (ATEDS) for the AH-64D Turbine Engine

The AH-64D Apache Longbow attack helicopter has a common power plant with the UH-60 Blackhawk helicopter, the General Electric T700- GE-701C. The US Army, to simplify the maintenance and troubleshooting of the /701C engine, embarked on a project with Sikorsky Helicopter and General Electric Aircraft Engines (GEAE) to standardize the procedures and make them more efficient. Since the Blackhawk and the Longbow use the same engine, the U.S. Army Aviation Applied Technology Directorate (AATD) instituted a similar project for the Longbow application of the engine. Boeing, using the Enhanced Turbine Engine Diagnostic System (ETEDS) developed by GEAE for the Blackhawk helicopter, is integrating a similar engine troubleshooting system that employs the Longbow's Level 5, fully Integrated Electronic Technical Manual (IETM). In addition to the IETM, the Apache Longbow Aviation Turbine Engine Diagnostic System (ATEDS) uses a reasoner software package to direct the troubleshooting techniques to follow the most efficient path depending on known information.
