The Machine Technical Committee (MTC) is a part of the Construction, Agriculture, and Off-Road Machinery (ConAg) Council. The MTC is responsible for standards related to machines, components, and systems of off-road, self-propelled work machines and associated equipment according to SAE J1116. The following are specifically excluded: powered industrial trucks (ANSI B56), agricultural tractors and implements, and on-highway vehicles as well as water and air transportation vehicles and/or machines. The committee harmonizes its standards with International Organization for Standardization (ISO) documents. Each MTC document has a "Subject Matter Expert" who is the liaison with the appropriate ISO Technical Committee. The MTC is comprised of eight subcommittees dedicated to creating, preparing and maintaining all relevant specifications, standards, and requirements for construction, agricultural and off-road machinery. These subcommittees include: MTC SC1 Loaders, Crawlers, Scrapers and Mounted Attachments MTC SC2 Sweeper, Cleaner, and Machinery MTC SC4 Forestry and Logging Equipment MTC SC5 Excavators MTC SC7 Roadbuilding Machinery Technical Subcommittee MTC SC8 Tire and Rim MTC SC9 Trenching and Horizontal Earthboring Machines Participants in the SAE MTC committee include OEMs, suppliers, consulting firms, government, and others across the construction and agriculture industries.
