Scope
This SAE Standard specifies a message set, and its data frames and data elements, for use by applications that use vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications systems.
Rationale
This is the seventh edition of the message set dictionary. The revision includes the following items:
-
1
Updated terms and definitions.
-
2
Expanded list of messages developed since the last revision:
-
PersonalSafetyMessage: message ID = 32 (PSM)
-
RoadSafetyMessage: message ID = 33 (RSM)
-
RoadWeatherMessage: message ID = 34 (RWM)
-
ProbeDataConfigMessage: message ID = 35 (PDC)
-
ProbeDataReportMessage: message ID = 36 (PDR)
-
TollAdvertisementMessage: message ID = 37 (TAM)
-
TollUsageMessage: message ID = 38 (TUM)
-
TollUsageAckMessage: message ID = 39 (TUMack)
-
CooperativeControlMessage: message ID = 40 (CCM)
-
SensorDataSharingMessage: message ID = 41 (SDSM)
-
ManeuverSharingandCoordinatingMessage: message ID = 42 (MSCM)
-
RoadGeometryAndAttributes: message ID = 43 (RGA)
-
PersonalSafetyMessage2: message ID = 44 (PSM2)
-
TrafficSignalPhaseAndTiming: messageID = 45 (TSPaT)
-
SignalControlAndPrioritizationRequest: message ID = 46 (SCPR)
-
SignalControlAndPrioritizationStatus: message ID = 47 (SCPS)
Some of these messages have their contents defined in other SAE technical reports or are reserved for future use as noted in the corresponding section where the new message is described. -
-
3
Changes based on lessons learned from the ITE Connected Intersections project:
-
Addition of RoadAuthorityID to the SPAT and MAP messages
-
TimeMark guidance text
-
General descriptive text improvements related to the use of SPaT and MAP messages.
-
-
4
Incorporation of new ASN.1 entities developed as extensions of J2735 by other SAE Technical Committees.
-
5
Deprecation of unused elements without affecting bitwise backward compatibility. This is notated by changing the reference to the ASN.1 entities being deprecated as shown in the ASN.1 definitions. These entities have generally not been used in implementation and are therefore being deprecated from this data dictionary.
-
6
Updates and improvements to the J2735 ASN.1 modules as necessary to support items 1 through 5.

* Redlines comparisons are available for those standards
listed in the Revision History that contain a radio button. A
redline comparison of the current version against a revision is
accomplished by selecting the radio button next to the standard and
then selecting 'compare'. At this time, Redline versions only exist
for some AMS standards. SAE will continue to add redline versioning
with ongoing updates to SAE MOBILUS.
