This SAE Standard defines test methods and general requirements at all phases of development production, and field analysis of electrical terminals, connectors, and components that constitute the direct connection to the storage battery of road vehicles having 42 volt (nominal) electrical systems.
Rationale
The technical report covers technology, products, or processes which are mature and not likely to change in the foreseeable future.
The Connector System Standards Committee is part of the Electrical Systems Group of the Motor Vehicle Council. The Committee is responsible for developing and maintaining SAE Standards, Recommended Practices, and Information Reports related to design standards that reduce the complexity and performance requirements to improve reliability for connectors and terminals used in automotive electrical distribution systems (58 volts or less). Participants in the Connector Systems Standards Committee include OEMs, suppliers, consulting firms, government, and other interested parties.
